The density of POM plastic is 1.42 g/cm3.
POM is a crystalline plastic. It has good
properties such as fatigue resistance, creep resistance, wear resistance, heat
resistance, impact resistance, etc., and has a small friction coefficient and good
self-lubrication.
POM is not easy to absorb moisture, the
water absorption rate is 0.22~0.25%, the dimensional
stability is good in a humid environment, its shrinkage rate is 2.1% (larger),
the size is difficult to control during injection molding, and the heat
distortion temperature is 172℃. There are two types of homopolyoxymethylene
with different performances (homopolyoxymethylene has better temperature
resistance).
POM is easily decomposed, and the
decomposition temperature is 240 degrees. Irritating and corrosive gases will
occur during decomposition, so the mold steel should be made of
corrosion-resistant materials.

POM plastic material has high strength,
rigidity, good elasticity and good wear resistance. Its mechanical properties
are good, the specific strength can reach 50.5MPa, and the specific stiffness
can reach 2650MPa, which is very close to metal.
The mechanical properties of POM change
little with temperature, and the change of copolymerized POM is slightly larger
than that of homopolymerized POM. The impact strength of POM is higher, but the
conventional impact is not as good as ABS and PC; POM is sensitive to notches,
which can reduce the impact strength by as much as 90%. The fatigue strength of
POM is very outstanding. After 10 alternating loads, the fatigue strength can
reach 35MPa, while PA and PC are only 28MPa.
The creep property of POM is similar to
that of PA, only 2.3% at 20℃, 21MPa, 3000h, and it is not affected by
temperature.
The friction factor of POM is small, the
wear resistance is good (POM>PA66>PA6>ABS>HPVC>PS>PC),
the limit PV value is very large, and the self-lubricating property is good.
POM products are prone to squeal-like noise when grinding and high load.
POM plastic raw materials have good electrical
insulation and are almost unaffected by temperature and humidity; dielectric
constant and dielectric loss change little in a wide range of temperature,
humidity and frequency; arc resistance is excellent, and can be Keep at high
temperature. The dielectric strength of POM is related to the thickness,
82.7kV/mm when the thickness is 0.127mm, and 23.6kV/mm when the thickness is
1.88mm.
