The Classification and main application of anodizing on aluminum
2020-01-16

Anodizing refers to the electrochemical oxidation of metals or alloys, and the formation of an oxide film on aluminum products (anodes) by aluminum and its alloys under the corresponding electrolyte and specific process conditions due to the application of current.

Classification

(1) According to the main components of the electrolyte, it can be divided into: sulfuric acid anodization, oxalic acid anodization, and chromic acid anodization.

(2) According to the operating temperature, it can be divided into: normal temperature anodization and low temperature anodization.

(3) It can be divided into common anodizing and special anodizing according to performance and use, such as hard anodizing and porcelain anodizing.

(4) According to the function of the oxide film, it can be divided into: abrasion-resistant film layer, corrosion-resistant film layer, glued film layer, insulating film layer, porcelain film layer, decorative film layer, etc.

(5) According to the color of the oxide film, it can be divided into: silver-white oxidation, colored film oxidation, etc.

(6) According to the film formation speed of the oxide film, it can be divided into: ordinary anodizing method and rapid anodizing method.

Application

(1) Protection. The anodized film has better stability in air and can improve the corrosion resistance of the surface of aluminum and aluminum alloy products.

(2) Protection and decoration layer. In an acidic solution, the film layer obtained by anodizing has a high transparency, and various bright colors can be obtained after the industrial aluminum profile is colored. Under special process conditions, an oxide layer with a porcelain appearance can also be obtained.

(3) Wear resistance. The anodized film has high hardness, which can improve the wear resistance of the product surface.

(4) Electrical insulation. The anodic oxide film has high insulation resistance and dielectric strength, and good electrical insulation. It can be used as the dielectric layer of the electrolytic capacitor or the insulation layer of electrical products.

(5) Spray paint the bottom layer. The anodized film has porosity and good adsorption, and can be used as the bottom layer of spray paint or other organic coatings, which can improve the binding force of the paint or other organic film and the substrate.

(6) Electroplated bottom layer. By utilizing the porosity of the anodized film, the bonding force between the metal plating layer and the substrate can be improved.
